San Marino send Valentina Monetta

San Marino’s national broadcaster (SMTV) at a press conference today announced that Valentina Monetta will represent San Marino at this years Eurovision. On the 16th of March at 2140 CET (2040 GMT) Valentina Monetta will premiere her Eurovision entry on SMTV.

Humperdinck Video Picture Released


The BBC have released a picture of the filming of Engelbert Humperdinck video for his Eurovision 2012 entry. The BBC internally selected him and the song will be revealed on the BBC Eurovision website on Monday.

Humperdinck’s official facebook page has also released several more pictures of his video.

Italy change song

The Italian broadcaster has announced that Nina Zilli will not be singing  “Per sempre” but instead have announced that she shall be singing “L’amore e femmina” a song composed by her Kristoffer Sjokvist, Christian Rabb, Frida Molander and Charlie Mason. It has yet to be decided if there will be bits in English or if the song will remain fully Italian.

Eleftheria Eleftheriou selected to represent Greece

Greece has selected Eleftheria Eleftheriou to represent them at this years Eurovision song contest with her song ‘Aprhodisiac’. The national selection took place in an unusual setting in the form of a shopping mall and all performers (including guests) did not sing live.

The Hump Factor

The Daily Star is reporting that since Engelbert Humperdinck was announced as the United Kingdom entry that booking enquires for Baku (Eurovision 2012 host) has increased dramatically. Apparently booking equerries for Baku from Britain have sky rocketed by 638%!

The BBC have announced that the still unknown song will be unveiled next Monday on the official BBC Eurovision web site. Engelber Humperdinck will also give his first television interview since the announcement on Tueday during the One Show on BBC1 a 1900 GMT (2000 CET).

At 74 (75 on the 2nd of May) Engelbert Humperdinck was at one stage set to be the oldest participant in the contests history that was until Russia selected Buranovskiye Babushki with their song “Party For Everyone”.  Buranovskiye Babushki have at least 2 members who are older than Humperdinck.

Tonight: Greece decides

Tonight Greece will decide who to send to Eurovision 2011. The national final will be fought by four contenders all vying for the chance to represent Greece in Eurovision 2012. Greece has never not made the final and will hope that this year will be no different. The successful act will be selected by a combination of jury and public votes. 50% of the votes will come from the juries while 50% of the vote will come from televotes.

The acts participating are:

1. Dora – Baby I’m Yours 

2. Cassiopeia – Killer Bee 

3. Velvet Fire – No Parking 

4. Eleftheria Eleftheriou – Aphrosdisiac

Moldova Sends Pasha Parfeny to Baku

Moldova have decided to send Pasha Parfeny to Baku he will sing his song “Lăutar”. Many people commented about how the selection show seemed to drag on for a long time and there seems to be an overall bad reaction to Moldova sending Pasha to Eurovision 2012.
